Laramie, Wyo. – Forty-four people have been arrested in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado as part of an investigation into a methamphetamine trafficking operation. In Wyoming, the arrests were made between Wednesday and today.
John Powell is a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's office in Cheyenne. He says methamphetamine has been on the decline while prescription drug abuse has increased in the region - but meth is still a serious concern. "We are seeing more problems with prescription drugs," Powell said, "but methamphetamine has not gone away. It may not be as prevalent as it was, but it still is here, and we still have to work those cases."
The case is under seal in federal court until all of the warrants have been served. Powell says agents have seized 9 pounds of methamphetamine, handguns and $100,000 in cash, over the course of the investigation.
