Matchbox 20 Withdraws from Frontier Days

Cheyenne, WY – Pop rockers Matchbox Twenty have withdrawn from this summer's Cheyenne Frontier Days, and an animal rights group opposed to rodeo says it played a role in that decision.

Frontier Days bills itself as the world's largest outdoor rodeo, held over 10 days each July.

Late Tuesday, the booking company for Frontier Days, Romeo Entertainment Group, confirmed that Matchbox Twenty had provided written notice that it would not be performing at this year's Frontier Days. No explanation was given, and Frontier Days officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

The withdrawal was announced earlier Tuesday by a Geneva, Ill., group called SHARK, which stands for Showing Animals Respect and Kindness. The president of the group, Steve Hindi, said he provided
the band with video he believed showed animal cruelty at last year's Frontier Days rodeo.
