Mead wants more snowmobiles in Yellowstone, not less.
By Bob Beck
Yellowstone National Park – In a letter to the Superintendent of Yellowstone National Park, Governor Matt Mead calls for for more snowmobiles to be allowed in the park. Mead submitted his comments concerning the new Yellowstone winter use plan and its draft environmental impact statement. He says he fondly remembers snowmobile trips to Yellowstone as a child and believes others should be able to have the same experience.
"We are pushing Yellowstone to allow more snowmachine usage and for non-commercial use and for opening it up, so that more people across the country can enjoy the park year round. And we are hopeful that they will take our comments seriously."
Mead says enhanced winter usage of Yellowstone not only benefits the park by generating more revenue, but it also benefits the surrounding communities.
