Wyoming – For years there has been a concern about the effect wind turbines have on birds and bats. It's well documented that they can kill birds, but through years of work, fatalities associated with turbines have gone down. Now there is a new concern about the towers used to measure the strength of wind. These are called Meteorological or MET towers. Sophie Osborn is an ornithologist and the wildlife biologist for the Wyoming Outdoor Council. She tells Wyoming Public Radio's Addie Goss that with the growth of the wind energy, met towers are popping up all over the state. Also of concern are the guy-wires that hold up the towers.
