Meth Rehab Needs Outstrip Supply

Cheyenne, WY – The need for methamphetamine treatment in the Cheyenne area has outstripped the area's treatment capacity. That's according to a new report. The Cheyenne-Laramie County Methamphetamine Assessment Report, released Thursday says the region has seen a 192 percent increase in meth-related admissions for substance abuse
treatment since 2003. Allison Minugh works for Datacorp, one of the firms that prepared the report. She says treating meth addicts saves the state money in other areas, but that there just isn't enough room for everyone who needs treatment. The report is the first major step as the Cheyenne Meth Initiative works to tackle the problem. The group plans to use the report to develop a strategic plan for addressing meth.
