Laramie, Wy – Highway investigators fear the death toll
may rise from last week's chain collision that killed four people and injured 38. Three people remain hospitalized, including two in critical condition. After more extensive examination of the charred and mangled wreckage, the Wyoming Department of Transportation raised the number of vehicles in the crashes near Buford from 35 to 36. Crash reconstruction experts continue to sift through the debris in an attempt to piece together the cause. Wy-DOT spokeswoman Lisa Murphy says the possibility exists that additional human remains might be found as workers pry apart more wreckage.
She says the devastation from the crash was so intense that it's
difficult to determine cars from trucks.
