More Debate Over Private School Licenses

Cheyenne, Wy – The Wyoming State Board of Education will
hold a conference call today (Monday), to discuss private school
licensing issues.
Wyoming has developed a reputation as a haven for unaccredited
colleges and universities -- a reputation some in the state would
like to change. Superintendent of Public Instruction Jim McBride is
among those who have called for tougher regulations on unaccredited
schools.
But NOT everyone agrees that Wyoming should curb the
institutions.
Jerry Haenisch is the chancellor of Preston University, an unaccredited college based in Cheyenne with campuses
all over the world. He says limiting online and distance-learning
colleges like his would stifle a potential economic driver for the
state.
