Mumps Spreads in Midwest; WY Spared So Far

Laramie, WY – To-date, nine mid-western states have reported more than 600 cases of the mumps. And so far, the outbreak has not spread to Wyoming. But state health chief Doctor Tracy Murphy says state health officials are being vigilant. The mumps is a viral infection, and this particular strain is not unusual, according to the centers for disease control. The C-D-C also recommends two doses of the mumps vaccine, known as M-M-R, although one dose can be effective.
