New Medicare Part D Enrollment Period Begins
By Elsa Heidorn
Laramie, WY – Another enrollment period begins today for Medicare Part D. Seniors can sign up for the federal drug benefit program if they haven't already. They can also change their enrollment from one plan to another. Mike Fierberg is a spokesman for the Denver region Medicare office, which includes Wyoming. He says there are good reasons for seniors to review their drug plans now. "On any given year, some significant portion of Medicare beneficiaries will have changes in circumstances or be enrolled in plans that are changing the way they operate," Fierberg said. "So it's probably a good idea to get used to doing this kind of enrollment checkup each fall," he added. For example, Fierberg says people who have been diagnosed with new illnesses may want to switch plans to get better coverage for their new drugs. The enrollment period ends December 31.
