Gillette, WY – Campbell County officials are in the preliminary stages of planning for a new road along the northern tier of Gillette. The Northern Drive project would cost an estimated seven million dollars and take about four years to build. County Public Works Director Mike Coleman says that part of town currently only has one east-west corridor. He says this is one of numerous road projects to deal with recent growth around Gillette and the resulting traffic congestion problems. He says it will serve as a bypass around town to keep the heavy truck traffic off downtown city streets. Along with this county project, Coleman says the city has several road expansions it is working on and the state is in the process of planning an upgrade Wyoming Highway 59.
