Wyoming – It seems like there is about to be a resurgence in uranium mining in Wyoming. But, it won't be done with traditional mining techniques. Instead the focus is on what is known as in-situ recovery. This is where water is pumped into the ground, that attracts uranium, which is brought to the surface and filtered out of the water.
Next week the University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources will hold a forum on the benefits and risks of in-situ. Bob Gregory with the Wyoming State Geological Survey will present there. He recently told Renny MacKay in-situ is expanding.
