Northwest Wyoming hit hardest by prescription drug abuse

Cheyenne, WY – Northwest Wyoming and the Big Horn Basin are leading the state in prescription drug abuse problems.
Cody Police Chief Perry Rockvam says that side effects of the
prescription drug abuse problems include more secondary crimes,
such as home invasions, burglaries, and car thefts. In addition,
there is a higher incidence of false crime reports, which takes
time away from more productive work the police department could be
doing.
Rockvam says that several of his officers have become drug
recognition experts, which helps with the prosecution of drug
crimes that previously fell by the wayside because it would take so
long for blood and urine analysis to be completed.
