Office of Consumer Advocate says Rocky Mtn Power rate increase too high

Laramie, WY – Wyoming's office of consumer advocate said a proposed rate increase by Rocky Mountain power is much too high. Bryce Freeman says improper assumptions and some overestimates led his agency to oppose the hike by the states largest electric utility. Freeman wants the Public Service Commission to reduce the proposed increase by 60%. That means the increase will be much less for consumers

The company says it needs the money to pay for increased costs and for investment of new facilities. The Public Service commission will address the proposal in March.
