Older workers are being trained to get new jobs
Laramie, Wy – The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services is teaming up with organizations like
A-A-R-P to help older workers with things like new skills training, resume revision, and job searches. In the wake of the recession, older workers are unemployed at record rates and staying unemployed for longer periods of time. Director of Workforce Services, Joan Evans, says the agency has been busy.
"Our services across the board are in demand. We know that over the past 18 to 24 months that the demand for our services has doubled across the board."
The department is holding its next workshop today in Cheyenne. Evans says it will help people update their resumes and as well as give job tips and recommend volunteer opportunities which could also come with small stipends.
