One Year Anniversary of No Food Tax
Laramie, WY – The state tax on food was eliminated nearly one year ago. It was the top project for former state representative Ann Robinson for eight years before that. Now, Robinson says it's gratifying to hear that the bill is helping people. "I have people come up to me in stores and thank me for getting the sales tax off food and telling me what a difference it makes either to their family or someone they know," she said.Robinson says that when she first researched the idea, estimates said a family of four would save about $520 a year in taxes. With increasing food prices, she expects that number is higher now. The legislature made the tax cut permanent in the last session.
