Only One Bid to Rebuild Beartooth Highway

Laramie, Wy – The Montana Department of Transportation
received one bid for repairs to the mudslide-damaged Beartooth Highway -- a prime corridor to Yellowstone National Park.
The bid was put together by three companies -- H-K-M Engineering and J-T-L Group of Billings in cooperation with the Kiewit Western
Company.
Bids on the project were due Monday.
A pair of state committees will review the lone proposal over the next two days, and are expected to make a decision Wednesday.
Mudslides caused by heavy rains blocked and damaged parts of the
Beartooth Highway last month, preventing its opening for the summer.
Montana has received two million dollars in federal funding to begin repairs, although the total cost to fix the road is estimated at 20 million dollars.
