Oscars, TV Ad Boost Wyoming Tourism
Cheyenne, WY – No one film dominated Sunday night's Oscar awards. But, the state of Wyoming did quite well. Brokeback Mountain, which was set in Wyoming, won a couple of awards. Also a commercial featuring Wyoming tourism ran in seven major markets during the broadcast. State Director of Tourism Diane Shober says this was the first time that she knows of that Wyoming has had an ad run during the Academy Awards in this many markets. Shober says the ad is part of television campaign that costs about one point three million dollars.
Also, on Sunday ABC World News Tonight did a story about Wyoming and Brokeback Mountain. Shober says she does not yet know how much traffic all of this created on their tourism website.
