Once again Park County Commissioners have turned down federal juvenile justice money. The rejection of the 63 thousand dollar grant comes on the heels of a ten thousand dollar grant the county previously rejected. County Attorney Bryan Skoric asked the commissioners to reject the money, so that the county does not have to change how it handles juvenile offenders. They are currently placed in the county jail. The Governor's Juvenile Justice Advisor Gary Hartman has met with Park County officials, but he says they are not interested in change.Park County was cited in a report last year that documented several violations of the federal juvenile justice and delinquency prevention act.
