Pinedale recognized for its commitment to youth

Pinedale, Wyoming has been selected by an organization as one of the nation’s 100 best communities for young people.

America’s Promise Alliance recognizes local community programs and initiatives that are aimed at supporting youth.  Pinedale was recognized for having safe places for youth, for its youth fitness and recreation programs, overall improvements in education and for its adult volunteer program.

Teacher Jasper Warembourg has been in the community for 20 years and he says the adult input is amazing.

“We have 400 volunteers that are registered just with the school.  There are countless people who go together, who work with their kids.  I mean it’s just amazing.  All of the parents willing give for the youth.”

Warembourg  nominated the community.  He says the school district, the City, the library, the recreation board and others do what they can to help youth.

“The agencies in themselves seem to put a lot of their expertise and financial ability into a full spectrum of services, that are there to help the kids.”

Warembourg says he is humbled by the award.  The community will receive 25-hundred dollars to be used on youth.
