Cheyenne, WY – Cheyenne police used tear gas to end a standoff with a man who barricaded himself in a home with a loaded rifle for about five hours.
Cheyenne police Sgt. Rob Dafoe says a woman called police late Thursday with reports that her boyfriend had assaulted her and threatened her with a gun.
After police escorted the woman from the property, the suspect brandished a rifle and barricaded himself in the home.
Police evacuated neighboring homes and called in a SWAT team and negotiators.
Police eventually used tear gas to get the man to leave the house. There were no shots fired or injuries during the incident.
Police arrested the man on domestic battery charges and are pursuing firearms charges.
