Police Will Crack Down On Tour De Laramie
Laramie, Wy – The Laramie Police Chief admits his department has failed to properly police a popular bar crawl for too long. He says this year officers will be on hand at the annual Tour de Laramie to stop drunken bikers from causing trouble. Tour de Laramie involves booze, bikes and bars. And Police Chief Bob Deutsch says enough is enough. Deutsch acknowledges that officers have long turned a blind eye to the bar crawl. Meanwhile, he says, tipsy bikers put their safety at risk, often bang into parked cars and sometimes just get sick on city streets.
"we'll take our share of the blame for allowing it to go on in the past but we are not going to again." This year he says six officers will patrol on bicycle and look for traffic violations. Offending bikers will likely receive a warning, Deutsch says, unless they become difficult to deal with. In which case, they could be arrested and charged with operating a vehicle under the influence.
