Laramie, WY – A recent poll shows that among the nation's 50 governors, Dave Freudenthal owns the third highest approval rating. Survey USA spoke with 600 adults in Wyoming earlier this month and found that 67% of Wyomingites approve of Freudenthal's work. No other Democrat had a higher approval rating, and only North Dakota and South Dakota residents gave higher marks to their governors. Wyoming Republicans say the numbers are only a product of the state's economic prosperity. But the Executive Director of the state Democratic Party, Kyle DeBeer says it's a result of Freudenthal's record of accomplishment. DeBeer points to Freudenthal's leadership on issues like the wildlife trust fund. And DeBeer believes the Governor will maintain this popularity through the 2006 election. But Republican Party Chair Drake Hill doesn't put much weight into this poll. Hill says because it is an off-year, residents are comparing Freudenthal to no one.
