Property Owners Not Pressed to Clean Up Meth Labs

Cheyenne, WY – The state House killed a bill requiring property owners to clean up any meth labs on their property. Supporters said some landlords have been neglectful, creating a public safety hazard. But, some expressed concern about the government meddling in private property rights. Representative Erin Mercer says she supported the intent behind the bill. Her concern was this moved towards allowing the state to take rights from landowners. This bill died by a single vote in the House today (Tuesday).
