Prosecutor Seeks Death Penalty for Riverton Man

Laramie, Wy – Prosecutors in Fremont County have filed court papers seeking the death penalty against a Riverton man charged with killing his 22-month-old daughter.
The County Attorney was in court this week to seek the death penalty against Andrew J. Yellowbear. Court documents list four aggravating circumstances, including the victim's young age, her vulnerability because of physical disability and what prosecutors called the particularly cruel nature of the crime.
Yellowbear pleaded innocent last week to a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 22-month-old Marcella Hope Yellowbear. She was found dead July Second in a bedroom closet with a broken arm, a fractured skull and bruises and burns over much of her body.
Yellowbear and the child's mother, Macalia Marcine Blackburn,
have blamed each other for the child's abuse and death. Blackburn
has agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge and testify against
Yellowbear.
