Rawlins Employee Jailed for Stealing $225K

Rawlins, WY – A former finance director for the city of
Rawlins has been sentenced to three-and-a-half to eight years in prison for taking more than 225-thousand dollars from the city. Jamie Hooker also was ordered to pay nearly 126-thousand dollars in restitution. The sentence came down Tuesday from District Court Judge David Park. Hooker took the money over nearly four years. Authorities said she directed city payroll funds into accounts she held at Rawlins National Bank, Bank of Commerce and Laramie Plains Federal Credit Union. She then used the money to pay bills, travel and buy cars and other items. Hooker admitted taking the money and pleaded guilty. She resigned last May.
