"Off-the-Air" Situations around the Network and other Technical Issues

Lander/Riverton (90.5, 91,9, and 102.9) - 2/5/18

Due to a high wind storm over the weekend, WPR (Lander), Classical Wyoming and Wyoming Sounds are off the air in the Lander/Riverton area.  WPR listeners can listen to 90.9 and 91.3.   Technicians are traveling to the area to make repairs.

Dubois (91.3) - 1/2/18

Service has been restored to normal power levels in Dubois.

Sheridan (91.3) - 1/18/18

HD2 and HD3 signals have been restored.

Douglas (91.7) - 12/11/17

Service has been restored to the Douglas area.

Jackson  (90.3)

Service has been restored to the Jackson area.

Sheridan  (91.3)

We have moved our Sheridan site from Banner Mountain to Red Grade.   This is due to WPM losing our site on Banner Mountain.  We are currently operating at our FCC licensed power at the new Red Grade site but will be increasing our power output over the next year from 450 watts to 30,000 watts in the Sheridan area.  Listeners in Story and Banner will experience a diminished signal until our power is upgraded.

10/2/17: Lander/Riverton Wyoming Sounds signal (90.5)

Upon improving the signal in the greater Lander/Riverton area earlier this year, we found that the new signal was lower in some parts of Lander due to shading from the mountains near Sinks Canyon.  As a remedy we have added the Wyoming Public Radio Main channel on 90.5.  You can now find Wyoming public Radio’s Main channel at both 90.9 and 90.5.  Wyoming Sounds will be found at a new home on 102.9 in the next few weeks. You can listen to Wyoming Sounds online until then (click here).

8/10/17: Lander Signal (fm 90.9)
Status update:
We have received the new antenna that will beam a signal directly into Lander without interfering with the main signal from Limestone Mountain.  We are also getting a data circuit put in to synchronize the two signals.  This is important as the signals could cancel each other out in some areas if this isn’t done.  We will install a new booster transmitter that has capabilities to adjust the delay of the signals to synchronize them.  I have to get a tower crew out to install the antenna.  Hopefully we can get these things done in the next few weeks and get a good signal back into central Lander.

Thanks,

Wyoming winds can create real problems around the network.
