Laramie, Wy – The United States will probably continue to see catastrophic wildfires until it sets up a long term federal response for dealing with fires. That's the finding of Congress's investigative branch the G-A-O.
And Wyoming's Governor, Dave Freudenthal, says not only is there not a sound comprehensive plan the one that does exist is not well funded.
The G-A-O did find that the federal government increased spending to prevent and fight forest fires. But, Freudenthal says that money was shifted out of this region to work on projects in California.
