laramie, wy – Republicans for Environmental Responsibility issued its first scorecard on congressional voting records. It's not the first advocacy group to send lawmkaers a report card, but it is unique in that it focuses on Republicans and the environment. Spokesman Jim DiPeso says the group ranked Senator Craig Thomas higher than Wyoming's other delegates for speaking out against a proposal to privatize mines. DiPeso says Rep. Barbara Cubin received a negative score for her support of opening the arctic national wildlife refuge to oil dirlling. Cubin's office has defended her environmental record.
