Residents express anger over ozone problems

Pinedale, WY – About one hundred people attended a public meeting in Pinedale Tuesday night,to hear what state and industry officials had to say about recent spiking ozone levels in Sublette County. State environmental regulators acknowledge that emissions from the massive natural gas fields in the area bear a large part of the responsibility for the ozone problem. Pinedale Town Councilwoman Nylla Kunard says many people expressed frustration.
"Most of the ones were a little bit heated because they just want more control over the ozone problem. And you know they want to see that something is done."
Kunard says many people said that they want to see improvements in local air quality, not just monitoring of the situation. Department of Environmental Quality Director John Corra was on hand for the meeting, as were representatives of the oil and gas industry.
