Retail sales good in Wyoming

Cody, Wy – Retail sales have helped to boost sales tax collections this year. The latest figures show current sales tax revenue ahead of last year by more than six percent. A gift shop owner in Cody is seeing strong sales this holiday season and she's giving the credit to bad weather. Reindeer Ranch owner Jody Horvath says ice and temperatures around zero have kept shoppers from driving to big cities, such as Billings.
"We are a little better than last year and last year was a very good year. I'm just hoping we can sustain that through 2009." Horvath had a flurry of last-minute shoppers this week.
