Cheyenne, Wy – What is being called the largest Carbon Sequestration project in the World has been given approval by the State Lands and Investment Board. The Board, made up of the Top Elected State Officials, gave final approval for the leasing of 34 acres of state land for the Riley Ridge Plant in Sublette County. It will produce methane and helium and store greenhouse gas underground. State Lands Director Lynn Boomgarden says Cimarex Energy and the Wyoming Game and Fish department set up a mitigation fund that will monitor impacts of the project. She says her office will also perform followup inspections.
The project still needs approval from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality and the Bureau of Land Management.
