Portland, OR – Indictments were handed down today against 11 people for a series of alleged eco-terror attacks in Wyoming and four other Western states. The 65-count indictment says the suspects are responsible for 17 incidents in California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming going back to 1996. One of those indicted, Chelsea Dawn Gerlach, is suspected of attempted arson in 1998 at the BLM wild horse corrals in Rock Springs. Prosecutors also believe Gerlach was involved in the 1998 firebombing of a Vail ski resort, considered one of the costliest crimes linked to eco-terrorism in the country. The fires burned chairlifts, a restaurant and caused 12 (M) million dollars in damage. The arson attacks described were claimed by the Earth Liberation Front and the Animal Liberation Front. Other targets included Forest Service ranger stations, lumber companies, and meat processing companies.
