Cheyenne, Wy – Broad support for permanently getting rid of the state's tax on food is having an effect on lawmakers. Today (Friday) the House Revenue committee passed a bill to do away with the tax until 2013. The Chair of the committee Pete Anderson did not support this idea last year, and still says it isn't the best policy, but he did vote to get rid of the tax.
The bill also sends some money to cities and counties to try and make up for what they lose in sales tax revenue. But, Anderson says smaller counties will see a downturn in total revenue.
