Searchers find remains near Lander

Lander, Wyo. – Searchers believe they have found the remains of a 46-year-old Lander man missing in the Wind River Range since last November.

Searchers on Sunday found a backpack, wallet, clothing and bone fragments in a remote area about 50 yards off a trail.

Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan says DNA testing will be needed to determine whether the remains are Clay Rubano who disappeared while hiking.

Rubano worked for the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander.

His car was found about 10 miles outside Lander last fall during the initial search, which was suspended over the winter because of weather.
