Senate Supports Changing Bike Path Rule
By Renny MacKay
Cheyenne, WY – The state Senate supported changing the law for cyclists today. The change would mean people on bikes would no longer have to ride on bike paths next to highways. Now it is illegal to ride on the road when there is an adjacent path. Cycling groups feel it is dangerous to ride on those paths when they are crowded with pedestrians. Senator Charlie Scott says he supports the change, but says it is dangerous to put cyclists on the highway too. Scott says he supports converting old railway lines into bike paths. He says this could capitalize on the growing trend of cycle tours.
