The Wyoming Senate has voted to add $500-thousand dollars to continue to fund a program that provides drugs for those with HIV and AIDS. The money was restored by the House, but voted down by the Senate. However, Monday the Senate reconsidered the funding. Senator Charles Scott says without it those with HIV and AIDS might have trouble getting the necessary drugs.
“Cutting this one out, you are asking for trouble, because for the unfortunates that have this disease it is very expensive, because you have a cocktail of drugs that keeps them alive and most people can’t afford it.”
Senator Phil Nicholas suggested that the Department of Health’s budget was big enough that they could use other funds to pay for the program. Since the money is in both House and Senate budgets, it likely will not be removed.
