Laramie, WY – The Wyoming Highway patrol says yesterday's seven-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 may hold a lesson about pulling over when there's a crash ahead. As traffic stopped to avoid the first collision, a semi slammed full-speed into the back of two other stopped semi's. The Highway Patrol's Sergeant Steven Townsend says in some situations, getting out of the way can keep you from becoming part of the next crash.
"If traffic is coming to a complete stop and you're at the tail end, you can pull off into an emergency lane. If you feel more comfortable pulling into the grass and stopping, that's fine."
The driver of the semi that rear-ended the two other trucks has been cited for reckless driving and charged with having alcohol in the cab of a commercial vehicle.
