Shepard Frustrated...But Hopeful About Hate Crime Law
Laramie, Wy – It's the 7th anniversary of the death of Matthew Shepard and his mother remains dismayed that hate crime laws have not been changed. Judy Shepard is urging U-S Senators to agree to a house bill that would provide hate crime protections. But Shepard expects Wyoming's two Senators to continue to oppose the bill which especially bothers her since her son Matthew was a resident of the state. But Shepard has been discouraged with Wyoming politicians before. You know the fact that the state legislature has done nothing either is very frustrating to me. They have done nothing for hate crime legislation, for non-discrimination or for employment protection. Very basic things and nothing has been done.
But Shepard continues to get a lift from most Wyoming residents who she says do offer support.
