Sheridan Lawsuit Settled

Sheridan, Wy – A lawsuit filed by three Sheridan city
police officers seeking back pay, benefits and retirement
contributions has been settled.
The settlement was reached after the Sheridan City Council
agreed to pay the officers salary raises and benefits that had been
withheld.
In return, the officers agreed to sign an employee handbook and
drop the lawsuit against Police Chief Mike Card and Mayor Dave
Kinskey.
The city had been withholding pay raises and contributions to
the officers' health savings accounts because the officers refused
to sign the new employee handbook in December 2005.
The officers contended that signing the handbook would have made
them at-will employees and taken away their civil service
protection.
