Sheridan Studying Arts Impacts

Sheridan, Wy – The federal government is funding a study
of how Sheridan can expand its arts community.
The U-S Department of Housing and Urban Development is putting
up 25-thousand for the study through the Wyoming Business Council.
Susan Bigelow is director of grants and development at Sheridan
College. She wrote the application for the grant.
Bigelow says the study will look at arts and culture in the area
and develop a strategy for how to develop it.
Bigelow says she also expects to receive a 34-thousand dollar
grant from the U-S Economic Development Administration next spring
that will also go toward the study.
She says similar studies were conducted in Santa Fe, New Mexico,
and Loveland, Colorado. She says the Loveland study concluded that
the city needed a business that specialized in packing large bronze
sculptures for shipment because many artists there work with
bronze.
