Sinclair Settles With Feds

Cheyenne, Wy – Sinclair refinery will pay almost two and a half million dollars in penalties following an agreement with federal officials over clean air violations.
The state of Wyoming will receive nearly a million dollars in the settlement. Meanwhile, Sinclair will spend more then 70 million dollars on upgraded pollution controls and reduce air pollution at its facilities in Sinclair and Casper, as well as Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Justice Department's Ronald Tempas says they are pleased to be able to bring the refining industry into compliance with the nation's environmental laws. Sinclair had been sited with Wyoming violations from as far back as 2002. Environmental Protection Agency officials say the agreement will improve air quality in Wyoming. The agreement was filed in U-S district court in Cheyenne.
