Laramie, Wy – Lawyers were in court again Thursday in Laramie making last minute arguments about the referendum on the smoking ban. A full trial is scheduled for May 18th but attorneys on both sides appealed to the judge to rule in their favor and call off the trial.
Janet Tyler represents a group of voters who say the election process was so flawed there needs to be another vote. Her main point is the language on the ballot did not conform to the law and that means there was not a single legal vote.
The attorney representing the city of Laramie, Peggy Trent, says the language was fine and even if it was not that did not affect the outcome of the election. The judge in this case says he will make a ruling soon about whether or not there will be a trial.
