Cheyenne, WY – It's looking like the proposed statewide smoking ban may die in the state Senate. Senate President John Hines has not assigned the bill to a committee and he admits that he may not do so. Hines opposes the ban. Senator Charlie Scott supports it, but he notes that the House made several changes to the bill that have made a mess of the bill.
The House version of the bill allows local government to opt out of the law. It also exempts bars and other establishments that do not allow those under the age of 21 into their facility. If the Senate amends the bill, the House would eventually have to agree to those changes.
