Sniper Suspected In Wife's Shooting Is Dead
Laramie, WY – An anonymous tip from a citizen ended the dramatic case in Wyoming in which a military sharpshooter killed his estranged wife as she sang at a restaurant bar in Cheyenne.
Police say Wyoming Army National Guardsman David Munis was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest Tuesday night north of Laramie in southeast Wyoming.
The 36-year-old Munis had been the subject of a police hunt since early Saturday when his wife was shot in the head by a shooter from outside the restaurant bar she was performing in.
Police narrowed their search to an area north of Laramie when Munis' pickup was found abandoned.
A citizen saw Munis outside a small camping trailer and called authorities.
Police found Munis shortly after. He was flown to Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie where he was pronounced dead.
Munis had received sniper training in the US Army.
