Laramie, Wy – Two leather-bound journals written about 110 years ago provide a glimpse into the lives of the pioneers who built what is now the South Pass City State Historic Site.
The journals were written by Fred Lovejoy, a resident of the historic gold town on the southern end of the Wind River Mountains from 1886 to 1902.
Jon Lane of the South Pass City State Historic Site says the
journals provide short, daily accounts of Lovejoy's mining days.
The South Pass City Historical Site obtained the journals from
an anonymous seller on the Internet.
The diaries will be on exhibit when South Pass City opens its
doors on May 15th.
