Southern Wyoming Roads Start To Open
Laramie, Wy – Interstate 80 across southern Wyoming and
Interstate 25 from Casper to Cheyenne have reopened after a
powerful spring snowstorm closed much of the highways for more than
The state Department of Transportation, however, is still
advising caution. The interstates are reportedly slick in many
areas and there are reports of blowing snow.
Most of the 115-mile length of I-25 between Casper and Buffalo
remains closed. And about 130 miles of I-90 between Gillette and
the Montana state line also are shut down.
The Department of Transportation warns travelers to avoid all
travel if possible on many other state highways even if the roads
were technically open.
Sergeant Stephen Townsend with the Wyoming Highway Patrol
reports some 320 accidents since the storm began Wednesday. He says
some people were hurt in those crashes but no one was killed.
