State board to look at charter school rules

Laramie, Wyo. – The chairman of the Wyoming State Board of Education says the board will try to clarify the rules for starting a charter school at its next meeting. Jim Lowham says important parts of the rulebook are too vague.

It would help if we could clarify the process so that people who wish to start a charter school have a better laid out path to get that done," Lowham says.

Yesterday, the board rejected an appeal for the Cheyenne Classical Academy. Despite ruling against the charter school, Lowham says there should have been more cooperation between the school district and the charter school applicants.
