State Buys Duncan Ranch

Cheyenne, Wy – The State Loan and Investment Board gave
final approval today (Thursday) to buying a 64-hundred-acre
Converse County ranch for five-point-nine (M) million dollars.
Owned by retired attorney Hugh Duncan, the Duncan Ranch is
located between two mountain valleys on the northern end of the
Laramie Range. It has been operated as a cattle ranch for more than
a century.
The Duncan Ranch includes timber that could be sold for harvest,
wildlife and wildlife habitat resources, some cultural resources
and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities.
The Office of State Lands and Investments will begin work on
developing a long-term management plan for the ranch.
The decision by the board, which is made up the five statewide
elected officials, was unanimous.
