State Has $3.6 Billion to Spend or Save

Cheyenne, Wy – The state legislature has nearly three point six billion dollars to spend or save over the next two years. The appropriations committee heard that while funding for education requires a dramatic increase this year...they should have plenty of money to handle the hike. Senator John Hines of Gillette remarks it is a much different world then when they used to have to figure out how to fund basic programs. Lander Senator Cale Case says the one thing he worries about is the eventual costs for health care.
He says Medicaid will be the big ticket item especially if the federal government trims its contribution to the state. However, Case says Wyoming is in much better shape then most states and he adds it is hard not to be optimistic.
