Laramie, Wy – The governor says state employees will pay more for health insurance next year.
Governor Dave Freudenthal says the rising cost of health insurance impacts everyone. For the state he says last year there was no significant increase in health insurance costs, but this year it will go up ten percent.
"As you think about it one of the things that has gone up the most consistently is the cost of health insurance."
The increase means state employees will have to pay more and the amount the state contributes will also go up ten percent. Freudenthal says cost of health care is why the debate in Congress on the issue is so important. But, he says he's disappointed because there is so little discussion about the facts and real content of any proposals, instead he says they insult each other. He says Wyoming's senior senator Mike Enzi is an exception to the rule.
